- LEE PEARCE

THE Cairns Greyhound Club’s Cup Carnival finals are on tonight.

There are eight quality races including the final of the Maiden over 410m, the 4/5th Grade final over 410m, the Cairns Cup Consolation over 544m and the feature race the Cairns Cup Final over 544m. Race 8 is the Babinda Electrics Cairns Cup Final over 544m. This final has a few chances, with the favourite Natty’s On Fire (1) for Jay Schafer. She ran the fastest heat time of 31.80 and has drawn well again this week.

Natty’s On Fire won her heat from box three last week, stepping very well and led all the way.

She won’t have things all her own way with Innocent Man (4) for Glen Olsen bound to be freshened up for this final.

He can begin well on his night, can come home strongly and has each way claims.

Phantom Henry (8) for Rhonda Essery went down in

his heat last week by a head to Queen Of Cawdor. This fellow is a big danger to the favourite. He has good box manners, runs on well, has a strong finish and also has each way claims.

Swift Nimrod (5) for George Tsakissiris ran a good second last week from box seven behind Natty’s On Fire.

He hasn’t drawn as well this week but could sneak a place.

Choc Latte Cloud (7) for Michael Fusco won her heat in 31.99 last week, at her first look over the distance, will be improved for the run and is a

place chance.

Race 7 is the Lounds Fresh Seafood Cairns Cup Consolation over 544m.

Trainer Rhonda Essery has three starters and has drawn well with them.

Fool Proof (1) had his first look at the track and distance last week, running fourth behind Choc Latte Cloud.

He has drawn better tonight and has a place chance.

Port Lisa (2) is another one that had her first look last week, running third behind Choc Latte Cloud. She has drawn close to the rails and will be improved for the run and should have each way claims. Sliding Doors (3) can begin on her night and should be up there with the frontrunners. Slow Dancer (6) for Glen Olsen ran fifth last week behind Natty’s On Fire. She can begin on her night and has won here in 31.99 and is a place chance. Burner Bant (4) for George Tsakissiris is on his home track and his performances before the heats were consistent. Burner Bant has each way claims.
