No Bunny on the course, or is he?

- JORDAN GERRANS

PETER Frederiksen is the ultimate South Sydney Rabbitohs supporter, in the stands at Barlow Park and on the golf course.

The Sydney-based Frederiksen travelled north with a group of Rabbitohs supporters for their annual Far North game and made the most of his time in Cairns with a hit at Cairns Golf Club. And, Frederiksen was a sight to be seen on the Woree course.

He was dressed from head to toe in green, red and white in support of his club the day before the game.

“I have got the pants in colours,” he said with a laugh as he prepared to fly back to Sydney yesterday.

“I got the shoes made after the 2014 grand final, one shoe has 2014 on it and the other has 21 because that was our 21st premiership.

“And, to complete it all, I play the front nine with green glove and red ball and the back nine with a green ball and a red glove.”

Souths delivered the bullet to the Cowboys’ finals hopes with a heart-stopping 21-20 victory in Cairns on Sunday.

“We were in the stands cheering them on,” Frederiksen said.

“That was the fifth home game I have been to this year and I have not seen them lose live yet.

“I thought Sunday might be the day for the first loss but I may be the good luck charm.” THE best of the 15 and 16year-old players in the Marlin Cost region will get ready for the Netball Queensland Emerging Talent Program later this month.

This is the only pathway for players to be selected in the under-17 Queensland team and will be held over July 14-15.

They are trialling for a spot in the under-16 Marlins team which aligns under the Marlins State league team which is currently managed by the Cairns netball association and are in first place in the QSNL Division 2 league.

Players selected into the under-16 Marlins team will train in preparation for the State under-16 titles in Brisbane in October.

From this players can be selected into the under-17 State team.

Teams are flowing in for the Sharon Finnan Development Cup Carnival to be held in Cairns on July 21 and 22.

Teams are coming from Mapoon, Weipa, Townsville, Yarrabah and all over Cairns.

The inclusive carnival is a part of the FNQ Indigenous Netball Program, of which I am proud to be part.

Players from the carnival 12-18 years can be selected into the FNQ Indigenous Netball Squad and invited to a two day camp.

Divisions start at under-10 through to all junior divisions and senior divisions.
