Hottest home on market

A HOME at Mareeba geared toward mining industry clients has topped the list of mostviewed Queensland properties on realestate.com.au.

The double storey, six-beddroom, two-bathroom, threecar-garage home at 3 Lannoy St received 7135 views between June 28-July 5, well ahead of properties for sale in Brisbane’s blue-chip suburbs of Upper Brookfield, Camp Hill and Windsor.

With an asking price of $380,000, the house last sold four years ago for $325,000, and, despite the affordable price, agent John Hudson from Australian Property Centre said he had not received any inquiries.

“It is not unusual to have this listing. We get all sorts of property to get in mining clients,” he said.

The report could also be evidence of a jump in demand for regional Queensland properties, according to realestate.com.au public relations and communications manager Phil Mahoney.

“It could also be how the agents are marketing it and it might be turning up somewhere on social media and getting a few clicks,” he said.

“But what we’re seeing in regional Queensland is a number of people looking at listings in these suburbs. Demand is up six per cent in Cairns and that’s one of the smaller jumps around the state.”

REIQ Far North zone chairman Tom Quaid had no insight into the popularity but said the news “should hopefully get the owner’s phone ringing off the hook and a contract on the table before long”.

The Lannoy St home is on a 733sq m block with landscaped gardens and includes an office, shed and outdoor entertaining area.
