The Cairns Post

On other matters

I agree with Richard (CP, 9/7). The international terminal at Cairns Airport is in dire need of any sort of an upgrade. If the Jetstar flights from Tokyo and Osaka land at roughly the same time in Cairns, then you’re pretty much waiting on the plane to get through passport control. Last thing you want so early in the morning. Seb, Cairns The second fire at the Melbourne recycling plant (CP, 9/7) points to the best use for plastic waste. Burn it to generate electricity. Trevor, Cairns It’s about time to take off the rose tinted glasses. Shops closing and warehouses empty throughout Cairns, high unemployment and houses empty. Cairns isn’t the so-called paradise being reported. Richard, Palm Cove On the UK Novichok poison death: Novichok is a binary toxin, requiring the mixing of two chemicals to activate. The death of a random person suggests a terrorist is perfecting their field deployment technique. Woz, Parramatta Park Cairns didn’t get their “state of the art” fully-funded entertainment precinct on a great site, that’s now history. What we did get, “if looks are any guide”, is a white elephant. Ratepayer, Cairns When are the traffic police going to do a blitz on cars with fog lights on? The owners don’t realise that the fog lights shine full bore into your rear vision mirror and are not on the head light dip switch. Victor, Earlville It is wonderful that a bible verse is included in the Cairns Post. However, the King James version is in an old English style that most people would find hard to read. There are many versions that would be more suitable for the general public like the New International Version and The Message Bible. Tabitha, Bayview Heights Whenever people claim “the politics of envy”, the reply should be “what about the politics of greed”? The government’s policies favour the well-off. It is time for some fairness. David, Woree Why are people abusing supermarkets/ workers? It wasn’t their idea to do away with the plastic bags. Don Stratford
