I bought a campervan and hit the road from Melbourne last year to move up here. My family are always on the phone complaining about the cold, but not me. I’m staying in a caravan park but I get out on the bike, walk and do exercise, weights and pilates every day. I went around Australia in my sports car in 2015 with my bike on the back, and tented all the way. When I got to Cairns, I stayed for three months while my granddaughter was being born. I flew up to the Cape, I snorkelled on Hastings and Michaelmas Cay, I jumped out of an aeroplane on to Etty Bay. I climbed the Pyramid — the experts do it in an hour and 20, I did it in seven. I’ve climbed Bartle Frere with my son. Now I want to paraglide. There’s so much to do up here.
