THE end of school holidays is fast approaching and kids are enjoying their last taste of freedom under the tropical sun.

Some, like Luca Takai, 5 (pictured), have been reaching new heights over the holidays, conquering the climbing nets at Muddy’s Playground with his brother Riku, 3.

Others have been keeping up with their learning at educational events such as the school Holiday Bat Chats happening weekends outside Cairns City Library, 5.30pm-6.30pm.

Kids can celebrate the end of school holidays tonight at Cazalys Stadium, at a Friday the 13th Kids Disco.

Headlined by local children’s entertainer DJ Crazy Bron, kids are encouraged to put on their dancing shoes and dress spooky to celebrate.

Cazalys marketing manager Keryl Cameron said school holiday activities is a new thing for the stadium, but they’re planning to run more in future if it all goes well.

“We’ve already booked the White Wizard Magic Show back for next holidays after last week’s was booked out,” she said.

THIS outdoor challenge activity requires you and your team to problem solve and work together.

Build a spider web by stringing rope back and forth between two upright posts or two trees, creating a series of different sized holes, big enough for a person's body to pass through.

All players must cross from one side of the web to the other without touching any part of it or walking around the outside of the web.

Once a portion of the web has been used as a pass-point, that hole closes, and you cannot use it again.

Teammates must problem solve and work together to determine how to get all participants across.

If anyone touches the web, they must return to the starting point to try again.

If a total of three members touch the web while trying to cross, all members must return back to the start.
