RECENTLY, an assemblage of students studying dance at Bentley Park College were given the opportunity to travel to Brisbane, where they experienced the rush of performing in Creative Generation 2018.

This year’s theme for the performance was This Is Me, inspired by the breakthrough movie The Greatest Showman.

It encouraged students to embrace their inner beauty and have confidence while showing the world who they truly are; a significant message that needs to be heard by many.

Year 12 student Rhylee Wilson was one of the lucky participants who danced in Creative Generation. When asked what she enjoyed most about performing, she said: “Definitely coming together and working with new people!”

Creative Generation — State Schools Onstage is the state’s largest growing student performance platform, giving school communities the chance to perform in a professionally produced arena spectacular.

Beginning in 2005, the number of participating students has only increased with the total dancers this year reaching about 720.

Alongside hundreds of performers across Queensland, these students spent hours rehearsing choreography in preparation for the concert.

New friendships flourished during rehearsals as school communities combined and bonded over their deep passion for performing.

Inspiration filled the arena as each student displayed their incredible talent, motivating others to be the best performers they can be.

Footage from the event will be screening October 27 on Channel 10 for those interested in viewing the amazing talent displayed by state school students.

A huge thank you towards everyone who made this spectacular event a possibility, with a special thank you dedicated to the Bentley Park College staff who spent hours sewing costumes and fundraising; we are forever grateful for this experience.
