RAVENSHOE GOLF

IT was lovely weather for golf over the weekend for the 18-hole stableford event sponsored by Bert Wilson and his team at NQ Savannah Real Estate in Ravenshoe. Winner was Gav Wright with 40 stableford points and runner-up Dave Cassels on 37 points. Gav took both NTPs as well for the day. Congratula­tions to all who played a big thankyou to Bert and his team for their generous sponsorshi­p. Wednesday’s nine-hole chook comp tees off from 8.30am, hire clubs and buggies are available from the clubhouse. This is a great introducto­ry game for anyone wishing to have a go at golf. This Friday night is dinner night at the club. Come along for home-style meals, desserts, CONCRETE WORX raffles and the Kidner Contractin­g members’ draw (must be in the house to win). Doors open at 5.30pm, bar facilities, meals served from 6.30pm. A full members’ meeting and info session with the committee will be held this Sunday, starting at 8.30am. The August monthly medal follows. A GLORIOUS day greeted players for the Millaa Millaa Club foursome championsh­ips, 27 holes for the men and 18 holes for the ladies, generously sponsored by Suffield Painting Services and Active Lawn Maintenanc­e. Thanks to GG and Greg. Returning men’s champions from last year Ash Healy and Arran Smith regained their title in both gross and nett with a 122 gross and 97½ nett, runner up with 99¼ were the team of Sol Sullivan and Ray Marsh. Aleisha English and Marg Azar also retained their title with a 99 gross, but were pipped on the post for the nett by ½ point by the two Cs from Cairns, Chris Payze and Carol Howard. Next week is Malanda RSL and Falls Teahouse monthly medal.

Mossman Golf Club’s Tuesday Stableford Event was won by Ian Johnson with 38 points, in 2nd was Matt Carmody with 37 points and in 3rd on C/B was Peter Clark with 37 points. NTP’s – Alfie Frain on 6, Ralf Middel on 8, Leon Baker on 10, Gregory Summers on 13, Smokey Dawson on 17. Wednesday’s Nine Hole stableford event was won by Ray Bennets with 20 points. R/Up was Rudi Van Hardeveld with 19 points. Saturday’s Men’s and Ladies 4BBB Stableford Event was won by Scott Karpathy and Vince Brischetto with 49 points in 2nd Jeff Murray and Stephen Leak with 48 points and in 3rd Tony Monahan and Lloyd Redpath with 46 points and on a C/B in 4th Jo Constantin­e and Robyn Fleming with 46 points.
