A grand old time

-

STUDENTS at Our Lady Help of Christians celebrated Catholic Education week with Grandparents’ Day on July 30.

At 9am OLHOC went to the church for a prayer assembly.

Half of the church was so full with grandparents that the Preps had to sit on the floor.

After the liturgy some special awards were handed out.

The teachers had chosen one student from each class to win an award for showing joy.

Kathy Fleming (APRE) called the names of the students that got the Catholic Education Award and the school captains gave the students their awards.

After the students went back to class the grandparents visited their grandkids’ classrooms.

They saw what we do in class and got to do some activities.

In Year 3, the students did a painting of the life cycle of a frog.

The grandparents also helped put our faces on a picture of a frog.

It was fun having the grandparents in our classroom.

Then the grandparents had morning tea.

There was tea and coffee and scones with jam and cream.

Then the students had to say goodbye.

We think the grandparents loved coming to school.
