Spate of drivers nabbed drinking
TABLELANDS police are disappointed the drink-driving message has been ignored after intercepting several motorists over the legal alcohol limit at the weekend.
Senior Constable Aleda Day said police intercepted a drink-driver about 1am Friday on Byrnes St, Mareeba.
It will be alleged the local man, 52, had a reading of 0.100 per cent blood alcohol concentration (BAC). He is due to appear in Mareeba Magistrates Court on August 27.
A Carrington woman, 28, allegedly returned a reading of 0.126 per cent BAC when intercepted on Peake St, Atherton about 12.05am on Saturday.
She has charged with drink driving and driving while SPUR suspended and will front the Atherton Magistrates Court on September 4.
Sen-Constable Day said police also found an Atherton man, 41, asleep behind the wheel of his vehicle with the engine running about 5.50am in Cook St, Atherton.
It will be alleged he returned a reading of 0.148 per cent BAC and he is expected to appear in the Atherton Magistrates Court on August 28.
A Cooktown man, 32 and a Mareeba man, 29, will both appear in Mareeba Magistrates Court at a later date after returning readings of 0.089 and 0.083 per cent BAC, respectively when intercepted on the Mulligan Hwy, Mt Carbine on Sunday morning.
