Bryce Stanley, the best forward in the comp by a long way. An aerobic beast. WEAKNESS: Haven’t produced the goods on big days in recent years. Will the real JCU please stand up?

The Crusaders trained last night at Petersen Park but president Sam Pao said the club’s fate was in the “hands of the gods now” after being forced to make way for Penrhyn Sharks.

“We spoke to the group the other night and told them to stay positive,” Pao said. “A few of the boys were angry but you’d expect that.

Kani Simiona (above) and his men make their first trip to the finals in club history. Can rack up points and blow teams off the park in quick time, but discipline and defence needs to be though, it wouldn’t be right.”

FNQ Rugby president Clint Ratatagia said the competition was awaiting feedback from the QRU on whether the Crusaders should have been omitted from the finals.

The Crusaders fielded unregistered players earlier in the season for which they were docked five points. Once the deduction was factored in, they finished on 49 total points, one point behind the Sharks.

A QRU spokesperson said: “QRU’s Rugby Services department is working with FNQ Rugby to understand the issue and will provide an update to all parties involved as soon as the matter is resolved.” to hear
