THE Honey Badger is taking a break from The Bachelor drama by escaping to Far North Queensland.

Nick Cummins, who goes by the animal nickname “The Honey Badger”, has picked up a car from Cameron Atkinson at Westco Volkswagen and told the crew that he would be “going off the grid” for a week.

“He does this thing where he gives places … the whip of approval,” Mr Atkinson said.

“He came and cracked his whip out the front to give us his whip of approval. It was a bit weird, but he’s a country boy.”

But it’s now a mystery about where he’s going, simply telling Mr Atkinson that he would return the 4WD in a week.

Cummins spent his first night in the north on Wednesday night taking in two of Cairns’ cultural hot spots: The Woolshed and Gilligans.

Palm Cove’s Yeng Thao said he recognised Cummins at the bar at Gilligans on Wednesday night because of their mutual friends.

“He goes fishing with the boys up the Cape now and then,” he told the Cairns Post.

“He does a bit of spear fishing and reef fishing, but it’s mostly about going out to the bush and … camping.”

Mr Thao said Cummins was a gentleman, despite remaining tight-lipped about whether he found love on The Bachelor.

“He was a pretty funny bloke and really down to earth,” he said.

“He kept everything really quiet, but he was at the bar until lockout, until about 3am.

“There were a lot of women around him constantly, he was just surrounded by women.”
