Chemistry is right in look to bright future
ON August 16, Dr Andrew Pearson from Griffith University came to talk to Year 11 chemistry and science students about future careers within chemistry.
It was very informative as he told us what jobs would be made redundant within the future and what jobs would be opening up and be in high demand that related to chemistry and studying at higher institutions.
He also gave us an overview of Griffith University’s chemistry-related degrees as well as an overview of the campus, and told us how he got to where he is today and his studies – with its ups and downs.
I really liked how he gave a real depiction of what studying at higher education was like and how it was going to be hard and you do need to focus, but that it will open so many doors with opportunities.
Right now, I am a Year 11 student studying within the International Baccalaureate Program and I know that when I finish high school I want to study medicine at university, MOST INFORMATIVE: Christine Whiley, Innasa Reydiya, Neil Josen Delos Reyes and Isabella Mahutariki with Griffith University's Dr Andrew Pearson. so learning about the pathways into the medical programs and learning what you do within the degree was a great gain.
Meeting this Griffith University representative and the University of Queensland representative last week has really got me thinking about the great universities within Queensland and the great degrees and lecturers within both universities.
I feel so honoured that we had representatives come talk to us – and talk about how to get into such highly-regarded degrees and universities.
Thank you to both representatives for coming to talk to us and sacrificing your time.
