Trying new tack for sale

-

AFTER being passed in at auction, sellers of the Pacific Cay motel are trying another tack to sell the property.

The 193 Sheridan St tourist accommodation garnered plenty of interest but failed to secure a seller at the August 23 auction.

Colliers International agent Charlie Torrisi said the property had now been priced to sell at $2.5 million.

“The owners want someone to step up to take this motel off their hands,” Mr Torrisi said.

“The property consists of 10 one-bedroom units, seven twobedroom units and two motel rooms. The property would suit a family doing their own management or a communitycare organisation.”

Pacific Cay, with its distinct purple roof, has an in-ground saltwater pool and the grounds are well maintained.

On a rectangular 2033sq m tourist and residential-zoned footprint with 20m frontages to both Sheridan and McLeod streets, the motel is in the middle of Cairns’ family holiday apartment district.

Previously, Mr Torrisi told Cairns Post most of the apart- ments had been renovated and were on a regular furniture upgrade and replacement cycle.

Of the 41 hotel complexes sold in 2017, 27 were sold in regional centres, reflecting the consistent demand for complexes like Pacific Cay. For more information on Pacific Cay call Bruce Holmes from Ormsby Realty on 0402 348 695 or Mr Torrisi on 0408 006 123.
