A WOMAN allegedly more than three times over the legal limit has given new meaning to the term “drive-through”.

Residents in the quiet suburb of Whitfield were confronted by a Toyota Land Cruiser repeatedly crashing into an Atherton St home on Wednesday night.

A neighbour said the noise of the vehicle ramming the house late in the evening made her come out to investigate.

“We knew things were going on in his (the neighbour’s) personal life ... and we were told to be mindful if we see her car there,” she said. “And we did.

“I heard yelling and came out to see what was occurring.

“She has come back to her car and has driven it all the way through the house. And then went back and forward and back and forward for about 10 minutes.”

The resident said the driver allegedly slammed into the living room of the house.

The occupant of the house and two dogs were inside.

The man who lives in the house said he would take part in an interview in exchange for a carton of beer when approached by the Cairns Post and mentioned he was in the kitchen when the Land Cruiser came crashing through the living room.

He described the 4WD’s wheels spinning on the floor of his living room and was visibly shaken.

The stucco-rendered wall facing the street was destroyed by the impact and a Toyota badge ripped from the front of the car was left behind by the reversing vehicle.

“It was honestly completely crazy,” the neighbour said.

The driver of the Land Cruiser has been charged with one count of dangerous operation of a vehicle and being adversely affected by an intoxicating substance.

She was denied bail in the Cairns Magistrates Court yesterday.
