Park taking shape

-

A CRICKET pitch, football oval and multipurpose court will be key features of Lakeland’s new recreational park. Clearing, fencing, bore drilling and laser levelling is already finished with assistance and donations from the community. The council also received $200,000 through a Queensland Government grant program last year to assist with the design and installation of irrigation and grass. “The support of the Lakeland region has pushed the project forward in leaps and bounds, with much of the work done by qualified locals, when council funds would not have allowed us to do it in that time frame,” Cook Shire Mayor Peter Scott said.

Fun run success

AURUKUN was a hive of healthy activity for the community’s annual River to Ramp Fun Run and Walk. Almost 100 entrants ran, jogged or walked the 7km course from Obon to Aurukun Landing. The overall winner was Gabriel Waterman. Althea Koomeeta, 8, won a push bike for winning her age group.
