ON August 31, 2018, Our Lady Help of Christians students participated in Father’s Day activities.

We wanted to celebrate our fathers and honour them because they have done so much for us and are helping us throughout our life.

In the morning the Father’s Day stall opened.

The mums helped out by organising and wrapping the gifts. There were some great gifts for $2, $3 and $5.

The children bought some really nice presents such as lunch boxes, picture frames, back scratchers, pizza plates, mugs and chocolates.

As well as these gifts, many classes created some great handmade gifts.

The Preps and Grade 1 students made stubby coolers and pictures of their dads. The Grade 4 students made wall hangers and Year 3 made electronic cards and printed them out.

The dads loved the gifts. They were spoiled.

Fathers were invited to the school for lunch. They got a pie and a can of soft drink.

The fathers ate with their children and then played with them at break time.

We interviewed some of the dads. Jason Fenech said: “Being a father is very challenging, but there are great rewards.”

After lunch we had a special Father’s Day prayer assembly. There were heaps of dads. On the big screen were videos of children from each class singing or saying a message about Father’s Day.
