New friends and fun at camp

JUMP. Mud flowing into our faces … what is better than having a mud bath?

The challenge course was so much fun. All our friends from St Rita’s Babinda and South Johnstone State School were all helping each other.

We had lots of fun on the climbing wall, but when you climb to the other side it’s scary.

In the afternoon we joined with small groups to do a team-building activity.

It was especially fun when you had to use a rubber band and some string to put a cup of water in someone’s mouth to give them a drink.

At the end of the day our teachers surprised us with some sweet treats.

Roasting marshmallows over the fire was irresistible.

They tasted delicious as they melted in our mouths.

The fire was so nice, as everyone played games together.

On the second day we did council. There were so many people who entered the art competition.

There wasn’t just art, there was also a photography section. Kids from the Reporter and Photographers’ Club also entered.

There was only one winner for the photography which archery. My friend and I both got bullseyes from the longest distance.

But, as soon as we got closer I could not hit it again.

The camp instructor got a was Lachlan Christie, in Year 5, while the second place was Siannah McGee, Year 5, and third place was awarded to Layla Geck, in Year 6.

With the art competition, we had lots of winners in all of the grades. The theme for the competition was Together Is Better. foam box and we pretended it was a pig.

We had to shoot at it as he dragged it along the ground.

I shot it three times, and I got ‘dinner’ for my friends and myself. After the archery we went raft building.

First, the instructor showed us how to make different knots. Then we built the rafts in two teams and we had a race. Ready, set, go. We ran down the hill and put the rafts in the water.

I was at the back, swimming and pushing the raft. As soon as we got to the other side, our rope was coming undone and we ended up coming last.

We thought we were going to win because one person on the other team was rowing backwards. It was fun.
