GOLFERS across the Tablelands enjoyed beautiful weather at the weekend. Thank you to Ravenshoe Millstream Country Club members who supported various clubs across the region in open events or fun days. This weekend is RMCC’s two-day open. You have time to nominate for this event. The morning tee times are available with limited mid-morning tee times. Nominations can be sent to club captain Caraline at ravgolf@hotmail.com or text 0488 916 776, with your name, golflinks number and preferred tee times. Nominations close at 5pm this Thursday (September 20). Volunteers if you are available to spend an hour or so out at the club during the week to assist, can you contact Danny Bradley on 0438 196 888. Wednesday chook comp will tee off from 8.30am this week. This is a nine-hole event, $10 per player. Hire clubs are available from the clubhouse. Sunday’s golfing event was a two-ball ambrose. Overall winners were Shane and Caraline Soper with a nett 69. As sponsors for the day they declined the win and passed on the winnings to return visitors Brenda and Roy from Victoria with a nett 72.5. Second runners-up were Joel Fitzgerald and Will Aitchison on 73.25. Will took out his first men’s longest drive and nearest to pin on #6. Brenda took out the ladies’ longest drive. JIM Jenkins won Wednesday sporters’ stableford with 28 points. Runner-up Jeff Bochow 27pts, third Karl Riber 26pts on countback; NTPs 3 K. Riber, 13 W. Jones, 18 P. Posselt; least putts jackpots two on 16 putts. Dee Jierasak won the Thursday ladies stableford with 43pts, r/up Patsy McMahon 41pts, third Sandra Watson 39 pts; NTPs 3 S. Watson, 11 P. McMahon, 13 M. Azar, 18 A. Moss. The winner of Friday’s Trinity Petroleum six-hole chook run was Mick Grumley, 16pts on a countback from Hollywood and Daz Morey. Junior winner Emily McEwan 12pts on CB from Jackson Clark. Saturday juniors pee wee winner was Hannah Clark; r/up Josie Bye; tadpoles winner Abby McEwan, r/up Liam Steimann; novice winner Emily McEwan, r/up Declan Stewart. Saturday, September 15, saw the Police Charity Cops and Robbers two-ball ambrose with a great field of 140 players. Greg and Steve thanks all sponsors, volunteers and players for making it a great event. Gross winners for the day were Paul Pensini and Brendan Clark. The Archie Ayers Police Trophy winners were Adam Armstrong and Crash Moynihan. Ian Toward won Sunday’s Tableland Top Meats stableford with 42pts, r/up Dale Long 41pts, third Mick Fleming 38pts. This week – Wednesday sporters play a stableford, Thursday ladies host a Rockman’s-sponsored ladies’ interclub event. Friday Trinity Petroleum six-hole chook run followed by finger food and goose club draw at 6.30pm, including members’ jackpot joker $200. Congratulations to Mick Fleming for picking the joker last Friday to win $1240. Saturday juniors are on school holidays until October 13. This Saturday, September 22, members and visitors will play the Barron Valley Hotel-sponsored H. Nasser Memorial Shield Stroke. Sunday Tableland Top Meats stableford.
