B Grade gross winner Irish Hazlett, C Grade gross winner Peter Fraser, C Grade ladies’ nett, Dawn Irvine. Matty Bochow finished his weekend in style scoring his first eagle on the par 5 18th hole. This week Wednesday sporters play a two-ball best ball stroke, Thursday Ladies a Showcase Jewellers-sponsored stroke, Friday Trinity Petroleum six-hole chook run followed by finger food and goose club draw at 6.30pm, including members’ joker jackpot $250. Saturday, September 29, is a 2BBB stableford sponsored by Atherton Decor and AGC. Sunday, September 30, Tableland Top Meats Stableford. Monday, October 1, Queen’s Birthday Holiday stableford. MILLAA Millaa Golf hosted the Reynolds Family trophy on Sunday, September 23. It was a bit windy and damp to start with, but the weather guru John rightly predicted that “after 11 it would be heaven”. The nightmare on the greens of last week was not repeated and some good scores kept the handicapper busy. The final men’s results had three players finish with a nett 64, but as always there can only be one winner and on this occasion it was Richard Sullivan aka Sol, whose playing partner and second placegetter Bob Collyer had gone stroke for stroke all day. The third member of the trio of 64 was John Reynolds who would have won except the club captain’s maths were checked by Marg and found to be severely lacking. Sorry about that, mate. The ladies’ winner was Marg Azar 69 nett with Carol Howard the runner-up. Thank you to Live Life Pharmacy who kindly donated the ladies’ prizes for today. Nearest the pins went to 1/10 Warrick Howarth, 5/14 John Reynolds with Carol Howard being the ladies’ third shot winner on 6/15 and Bruce Hunter winning the longest putt on 9/18. Next Sunday, September 30, is the Harvey/Breed trophy day. This is a stableford event and I look forward to seeing a big field turn up. COOL, pleasant conditions prevailed for the golf open weekend held at Ravenshoe Millstream Country Club. Golfers from all across the north attended and enjoyed the hospitality of the club. While the course is dry, the greens were in excellent condition due to the hard work of a small band of volunteers. The committee thanks all of the sponsors for a great array of prizes.
