Walkers out in force
More than $20,000 has already been raised for this year’s Tablelands Relay For Life. With a goal of fundraising $40,000 for Cancer Council Queensland (CCQ), teams have been out in force doing their bit for charity. This year’s event will be held at Davies Park, Mareeba, on November 10 and will run in the new nine-hour format. This follows a successful trial of the new event time at last year’s relay, which was held in Atherton.

With a goal of fundraising $40,000 for Cancer Council Queensland (CCQ), teams have been out in force doing their bit for charity.
This year’s event will be held at Davies Park, Mareeba, on November 10 and will run in the new nine-hour format.
This follows a successful trail of the new event time at last year’s relay, which was held in Atherton.
More than 14 teams have already signed up to take part in this year’s relay and locals still have time to register.
An early bird special applies to those who register before November 3 – $30 a person.
CCQ chief executive officer Chris McMillan encouraged locals to support and register for Tablelands Relay For Life.
“More than 1430 people are diagnosed with cancer in Far North Queensland every year Funds raised at Relay For Life enable us to support those people,” she said.
“It is more than just a fundraiser, it is an emotional, empowering event where together, we are stronger than cancer. With your support of Tablelands Relay, we can be there for people every minute, every hour, every day.”
Teams taking part in the upcoming event can create their team banners free thanks to Bunnings Atherton.
The business will supply all materials for a banner making day on October 13. To register your interest, email jennycoates@cancerqld.org.au. For more information about the 2018 Tablelands Relay For life, visit www.relayforlife.org.au or call 1300 65 65 85.
