Nice and easy Into the breezy this week at Royal Millaa Millaa for the Harvey / Breed Stableford trophy day. Only it wasn’t just a breeze, it was a roaring gale that the field had to contend with. Two clubs more or two clubs less depending if you were into the wind or it was behind you. The greens mower finally got raised so the putting was significantly easier than the previous few weeks. With that, some solid scores were returned despite the gale. The surprise men’s winner was Alan Hapgood. Surprising given he recently quoted he was never ever ever going to play golf again. The week off fishing must have calmed his golfing farm down and he shot a solid 40 points. Second place was Wayne Norris on 38 with Bruce Hunter claiming third on a countback with 36. Dave Gibson shot off too early to see that he didn’t win the Bradman’s with Millaa Millaa welcoming back Matt for that honour. The ladies too returned solid scores with Barb Clifford clinching 1st place with 39 points with Chrissy Payze snapping at her heels with 38. NTP’s 1/10 Arran Smith, 5/14 Grant Miller, 6/15 Graham Murray. 6/15 Ladies Barb Clifford. In other news Arran ended the match play reign of Ruthless Richard Sullivan with a 2 up win to now face Graham Suffield in the final. The Pom has been to the Ryder Cup and encourages unruly shouting at unfortunate times so get your lungs ready for the final. Next week’s competition is the Monthly Medal for the Malanda RSL / Falls Teahouse Trophies. Let’s hope some rain isn’t too far away to quench the thirsty fairways.
