THE pride of Douglas Shire in snatching double premiership glory will hit the streets of Mossman and Port Douglas on Tuesday to celebrate the success of the Port Douglas Crocs and Mossman-Port Douglas Sharks.

Douglas Shire Mayor Julia Leu said it would be a special moment for the two clubs.

“It is absolutely fantastic to PICK-ME-UP: Contented customer James Milaras enjoys a coffee at Blackbird Espresso. GLORIA Jean’s is preparing to close its doors in Cairns Central, but that doesn’t mean you have to look far for a good coffee.

The centre still has a host of coffee providers, including Billy’s Place, Cafe Centre Stage, Coast Roast, Jamaica Blue, Myer, Muffin Break, Donut King and Coffee Club.

But if you want to venture outside of Cairns Central’s four walls there are plenty of other options.

Within a five-minute walk of Cairns Central are Cruze Coffee, which has a second outlet in the centre, and Caffiend on Grafton St, Bang and Grind on Spence St, Blackbird Espresso at Oceana Walk, Annee’s Caphe at Rusty’s Markets and Sing Sing Espresso and The Chamber Room on Lake St. see sporting success stories, which helps put Douglas Shire on the map and reminds everyone that we live in the greatest shire in Far North Queensland.

“You can still feel a real buzz around town and these premiership titles have really given everyone a big lift.”

A police escort will lead the parades in both towns. SHUTTING DOWN: The report in Wednesday’s

Cairns City coffee drinker James Milaras says anyone looking for a new regular coffee spot should drink local.

“I try to look at the quality of the coffee and the atmosphere inside the cafe,” he said.

“I love to have a chat to the people working there.”

He said his best tip is to be spontaneous.

“Don’t read reviews before you go, just look at a cafe and decide if it looks good enough to drink at,” he said.

“And if it’s good, make sure you go back.”

Players will be wearing club colours and riding on the back of trucks.

From Mossman buses will then take the players to Port Douglas, where they will convoy from Market Park at 1.30pm to the sporting precinct, travelling on Wharf St, Macrossan St and Owen St.

Mayor Leu encouraged businesses and residents to show their support for the Douglas Shire athletes.

“There are some great stories kicking around — you have the Sharks, who have created history and won the Cairns District Rugby League for the first time in 20 years,” she said.

“Then you have the Crocs who have made it three AFL Cairns titles in a row.” 11.30am – Clubs gather at Pinjarra Place car park. Noon – Convoy departs from Mill St, turns left down Front St, sticks to left and ends at car park in front of the council headquarters. Buses wait at the building and depart for Port Douglas. Port Douglas 1pm – Buses arrive at Port Douglas Markets 1.30pm – Convoy departs Market Park for sporting precinct. From Wharf St, convoy turns right down Macrossan St and right down Owen St to finish at the Port Douglas Sports reserve.
