JT shares a classy kindy message
COWBOYS legend Johnathan Thurston has used his star power to encourage indigenous parents and carers to get their children registered at birth and into kindergarten.
The father of three said it was particularly important indigenous children were enrolled for kindergarten.
“Studies have shown that with our mob that by the time they get to primary school they’re already behind the eight-ball because they haven’t been accessing these programs that have been around,” he said. “I’m very passionate about my culture, and making sure the next generation are accessing these programs.”
Thurston spruiked the Deadly Kindies Cowboybranded birth certificates and kindy kits at Saturday’s Queensland Murri Rugby League Carnival at the Townsville Sports Reserve.
Letitia Smith, 19, was moved to meet her idol. “He does do a lot for indigenous people,” she said. “He’s actually down to earth and he really gives back to the community.” Head of Produce, Woolworths. It’s great news for mango lovers. This season’s Kensington Pride mangoes are looking full, round and plump. And thanks to the hot, dry weather we’ve seen ideal growing conditions which has helped make them sweet and juicy. Woolworths continues to work with Aussie mango growers such as Barry from Arnhem Mangoes in the Northern Territory. His farm has been supplying Woolworths for over 10 years and consistently offers excellent quality mangoes. The first mangoes of the season, Kensington Pride have a beautiful aroma, vibrant yellow colour and a sweet, tangy flavour. We should see a good supply of juicy, plump Kensington Pride mangoes in stores over the coming weeks.
