ALL SET TO GO

- JACK LAWRIE

CRYSTALBROOK Collection’s first wave of new staff will hit the ground running when the Riley resort opens to the public.

About 174 hospitality, management and accommodation workers have undergone induction training to make sure things will be running smoothly by the opening date of November 6.

Senior assistant manager Tim Ward said it was exciting as a local from Babinda to see everything coming together.

“I’m looking forward to seeing what it’s going to do for hospitality in the region,” he said. “There’s been a lot of training, procedure and getting to know people and how they work at Crystalbrook.”

Riley Crystalbook staff food and beverage manager Natasha Lay will run Greenfields restaurant and bar, set to open on December 20.

“We’ve been working for the last few weeks, setting up minibars, meeting suppliers, getting an understanding of the ingredients we use,” she said.

Ms Lay, who came up to work from the Gold Coast said she was passionate about the fresh, healthy eating options promised by the restaurant

“We’re focusing on raw, natural ingredients and produce,” she said.

“Greenfields is out on the Esplanade, so we’ll have all the early workers and runners coming for their coffees in the morning.”
