Garden tours reveal mysteries and beauty
THE history of the mysterious tanks at the Tanks Arts Centre is being revealed in the History Tours of the Botanic Gardens & Tanks Arts Centre.
Tour guide Sandy Long said the walk through the gardens uncovered a world of information about the tanks and how its surrounding gardens were grown.
“We do spend a lot of time at the tanks because they’re very unique. We look at the history of the tanks themselves, which of course really starts during World War II,” he said.
A lot of the tour groups are made up of tourists rapt by the gardens’ beauty as well as locals curious about their favourite live music and arts venue, Mr Long explained.
“We guides have worked hard on gathering anecdotal histories from people who live in the area,” he said.
