Honey... He’s back

NICK “Honey Badger” Cummins’ love affair with the Far North has sparked an offer from a publican who wants to put crocodiles on the roof.

The former Bachelor star and reluctant New South Welshman was back chasing waterfalls and slugging down coconut milk in his spiritual home yesterday.

His Instagram story revealed a jam-packed itinerary including a dip at the Babinda Boulders with a warning for would-be swimmers.

“So we’re in Babinda, and this is called the Devil’s Pool,” he said.

“Eighteen people have drowned in there. Do you wanna go for a swim?”

Cummins took his seedy moustache to Innisfail, where he posed for photos on the Frog on Banana statue and drank rum from a coconut. Then he headed north. “Righto, we’ve had a blast of a time there at Innisfail,” he said while 50 Cent’s hiphop classic In Da Club blared through his car speakers.

“A few coconuts … now we’re heading to Port Douglas, so bloody brace yourself,” he said.

Rumours were swirling that the footballer-turned-reality star had popped into Cairns tavern the Cock and Bull for a beer, but publican Graham Johnston knocked that on the head.

He said his son Alex had taken the Honey Badger out marlin fishing a couple of years ago as part of a promotion for Great Northern beer, but he had not seen him since.

The Outback Wrangler Matt Wright, another of Cummins’ mates, has also been out marlin hunting on the Johnstons’ big game fishing charter.

“The Honey Badger should come back into the pub and have a look at all the marlins we’ve got up on the walls,” Mr Johnston said.

Cummins has become a regular fixture of the Far North since leaving the Bachelor, last visiting over a fortnight in August and September.

He is shooting a new TV show for National Geographic called Meanwhile in Australia which sees him “in search of the stories from the bottom end of Australia; From The Great Australian Bight, to the Nullarbor and The Great Southern”.

Filming ends at the end of the month with the first episode airing on December 9.
