On other matters

On Bridge support. I attended the meeting mentioned (CP, 27/10) and did not get the impression that the majority of residents from both beach communities were in favour of council’s plans for a bridge across Barr Creek. We need more consultation from CRC. Resident, Holloways Beach The NQ Cowboys don’t play football in Cairns so why support them. I rather like the Mayor’s idea of a joint Cairns/PNG side playing here. GTHO, Manunda I think it’s a beautiful thing that Chinese investors build a sanctuary to show the world how to respect wildlife of all types, and educate children as to respect wildlife in our food chain. I think it’s pathetic that our local and state governments are more interested in casinos, Bunnings, Star Wars movie studios, or billion dollar football stadiums. Rather than rock pools, to keep humans safe from God and Mother Nature predator wildlife. Rex, Edmonton The organisers of the march against violence and the media should be ashamed for getting children apparently under 10 years of age to read out what stupid adults have written. Children traditionally and even now learn by what they see and how people are treated. They do not learn from what is forced upon them. I do not have a problem with the march, just stupidity. Tony, Cairns The children aren’t on Nauru because of any decisions of Australians. They are there because of their parents’ decisions. They can head off home the moment their parents give up their attempt to force entry into Australia. Higgs, Tolga We must tell Trump not to waterboard Cesar Sayoc to find other pipebombs. Torture is never justified. Sean McGinn, Clifton Beach Where are all the lefties demanding justice for Karen Monahan, one of the women who accused Keith Ellison of domestic violence in US? Oh that’s right he is a Democrat so that’s OK and also a Muslim. No protests outside his office where is Hillary, Oprah? Shane, Kanimbla Thanks for the laughs Chris Calcino. Gotta have courage to string that many quips together. Rob, Machans Beach Sean McGinn (CP, 27/10), ice ages occur every 35 to 42,000 yrs, caused by the earth’s wobble courtesy of our moon’s gravitation effect, then approx 19,000 yrs of heating, before the cycle of cooling begins. Nothing has changed. Robert, Earlville
