Foreign raiders eye Cup

GAI Waterhouse has defended the internatio­nalisation of the Melbourne Cup as almost a dozen Werribee-based raiders lay siege to Australia’s most famous race after yesterday’s second acceptance­s.

From an original pool of more than 180 horses, 47 remain in contention for next Tuesday’s $7.3 million race.
