Kids to make Halloween a fright to remember

FOR lovers of ghouls, ghosts and everything gory, Far North Queensland has plenty to offer this Halloween.

Evelyn Muller is celebratin­g the hallowed horror show for the first time in Cairns. For the 10-year-old Machans Beach State School student, tonight’s celebratio­ns cannot come quickly enough.

“I like Halloween even better than Christmas,” she said.

Evelyn’s mother, Courtney Honey, said she would be taking her children to the Redlynch Valley Community’s Halloween event at Boden Bridge on Gamburra Drive.

“There has been weeks of excitement leading up to it,” she said.

A Facebook group called Halloween in Cairns & the Atherton Tablelands FNQ has popped up to offer safe trickor-treat locations for the mummies with the munchies and a host of events across Cairns are sure to bring out everything scary and spooky.

There will be a special screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Cairns Botanic Gardens from 5.30pm.

The event costs $15 adults and $5 for children. for THE Insurance Council of Australia will hold a free local community insurance forum in Cairns next Wednesday from 67.30pm. The public meeting will provide an opportunit­y for homeowners and small businesses to share their insurance experience­s and insights.
