Browning reaches milestone

- ALICIA NALLY

IT’S A PARTNERSHIP! TWENTY years is a long time to stay in the one company but Gary Browning has found the mix of projects and culture at Flanagan Consulting Group has provided plenty of fulfilment.

The 45-year-old senior designer marked the milestone at the Spence St engineering firm last week and was treated to dinner and a special morning tea with directors and staff.

Mr Browning said he had witnessed plenty of changes in the business.

“There are about 40 employees now but only 15 in the Cairns office,” he said.

“The company has grown over the last 20 years and spread to the other cities — Darwin, Mackay and Townsville.

“It’s hard to pick just one favourite project but I am keen to seen how Nova City starts taking shape. That was an interesting project to work on.

“It’s just an indication of how the market is going in Cairns at the moment, too.”

Mr Browning, who grew up in Cairns, said a combination of family, work, the environment and the laidback lifestyle had kept him in the Far North.

He said Flanagan Consulting Group, which was started in 1991 by Pat and Karen Flanagan, still retained a familybased culture.

“They foster work-life balance and there is plenty of interesting and challenging work, but we have fun along the way,” Mr Browning said.
