Milestone for jobs specialist
A PASSIONATE team and planning is the key to CBC Staff Selection’s longevity as the recruitment firm marks 30 years in business.
Director Sally Mlikota said adapting to changing local recruitment needs had helped the business flourish.
“The most successful businesses are underpinned by a passionate team – I think anyone in my position would say that,” she said.
“For me, equally as important is being able to take a step back from the bigger business picture and focus on the core structure of the company – the nuts and bolts if you like.
“Passion doesn’t create smooth business operations or equip individuals with the tools they need for success – they come from careful, strategic planning, led from the top.
“People will always need jobs and businesses will always want the best skilled staff available, so the requirement for our services already existed.
“What we took the time to do (and still do) is look more closely at our business structure and really get to grips with the essential operational requirements.
“Stepping outside of your comfort zone, while usually not immediately appealing, is vital.
“The temptation to focus solely on the aspects of your business which you enjoy most is real, but you need to push through this and make sacrifices so that you can achieve all that you set out to.
“These sacrifices can present themselves in many ways but providing you keep yourself grounded and aren’t blindsided, you can as a team, achieve not only your immediate goals, but many more beyond your original aims.”
Mrs Mlikota said the firm was always adapting, in terms of services provided, recruiting sectors, presentation through website and digital presence or scaling the business to suit the current demands of the market.
“We are part of the local community with many of us raising our children here,” she said. “We want to ensure the work we do today, benefits the businesses of the future.”
CBC Staff Selection was started by Dennis and Val Howe and is now run by Mrs Mlikota and her husband John.
