Protecting yourself from the elements is more important than ever in a tropical environmen­t like the Far North. While the tropical humidity doesn’t affect the absorption of UV radiation into the skin, the strength of the sun is hotter and longer on average. Cancer Council Queensland recommends using SPF30 or higher sunscreen, at least 20 minutes before going outside and reapplied every two hours.
