New high for tourism
SKYRAIL is bringing the story of the Wet Tropics’ rainforest to life like never before in the lead up to the tourist attraction’s 25th anniversary in 2020.
The recently completed Rainforest Discovery Zone at Skyrail is now open to the public, allowing visitors to navigate the evolutionary history of the Earth via an illuminated timeline that snakes its way along the ceiling. An interpretative app and audio guide are due to be launched by the end of this year.
And the attraction’s “Edge Lookout” at Barron Falls is also set to be open in early 2019, giving visitors amazing viewing perspectives of the Barron Falls and Gorge.
The 7.5km Skyrail, which opened in 1995, was originally installed with 47 gondolas.
