Getting creative for market day

YEAR 5 are just so excited.

Late in November, Year 5 Holy Cross students are holding their annual Holy Cross Christmas Markets.

Students in the younger grades get to shop at our craft stalls.

Recently Year 5 held a Shark Tank for the investment money to make the products.

For the Shark Tank Year 5 had to prepare a slide show presentation with a business plan, and cost their products to persuade the Sharks (teachers) to give them money to make the products.

The presentations were high quality as each of the 15 teams pitched to the Sharks.

Sharks had to outbid each other to invest in the teams.

Once the Sharks handed over the money, the teams nominated a treasurer to handle the money.

Someone has to go to the shops in their own time, and buy all the items that we need to make our products.

Many teams don’t need to purchase a lot as we are using recyclable items.

Some of the recyclable items are newspaper and magazines for Christmas trees, tornado bottles, matchstick Christmas trees and glitter jars.

On the November 29 we will be holding the actual Christmas Market Day.

Every group in Year 5 will be selling their amazing products.

All their profits goes to a charity. They also have to give money back to the shark (teacher) who invested in them.

All Year 5 students have been working really hard to achieve lots in the Christmas Markets and have also worked really hard in the groups to produce their products and business plan.
