On other matters

Re: Other matters (CP, 22/11) P. Campion. haven’t you ranted on about climate change for too long? Get the facts right and get a life, nobody is interested in your rants. Furious, Lake Eacham The library used to be a quiet place to read a book. Nowadays they are more like social clubs with music blaring and loud talking. Where to read in peace? Michael, Edge Hill Gary G Smith, Ravenshoe (CP, 22/11). Not only do dangerous dogs (or dangerous humans for that matter) have no place on our streets. What purpose do crocodiles serve in our swimming pools and our once safe swimming places? I’m sure some hairy-armpit, shower-once-a-week, “expert” will have an answer. Rhonda Woods, Cairns Hey Telstra. How am l going to know what to pay and when? No paper bill received for three months. And l will not be forced into online payment. Jenny, Cooktown Christmas tree set to light up city again on the Cairns Esplanade. So the preparations to put up the Christmas tree, so it looks a lot like Christmas in Cairns because Santa comes to town. Janelle, Woree Getting sick and tired about hearing how thugs and skanks had bad childhood, bored and no fear of consequence for their crimes and actions. Again the victims suffer and youth free to reoffend. No deterrent, no change, only more misery to victims. You do the crime give them time with something to stop boredom. Pathetic judges and do-gooders. AT, Edge Hill “Global Warming is hot air” Werner Schmidlin (CP, 22/11). Sure is, but did you know most of the heat is stored in the oceans? It’s called climate change because it’s all about breaking records both hot and cold. Record breaking cold weather is more evidence of global warming as predicted by climate scientists. John Pratt, Mooroobool What price progress? NBN. Billions of dollars spent on this white elephant. Which apparently was outdated before inception. Now the $2 billion My Health Record is described as a “Digitised Dinosaur” by Harvard guru Dr John Halamka. Why are the taxpayers of this country paying top dollar for projects that shouldn’t even be presented as a solution for our future and our children’s, children’s future? Icarus, Atherton Plastic pollution is a serious worldwide problem. 6kg of plastic found in whale’s stomach is indicative of this. When we eat seafood we are ingesting microplastics. Everyone needs to take responsibility for their waste to make sure it doesn’t end up in our rivers and oceans. Pam, Bayview Heights
