PEERS’ CHEERS FOR JAWAI

-

Former teammate Patty Mills in August 2017 on Jawai’s Boomers hopes “Us indigenous athletes do our part to hopefully inspire young kids and represent the indigenous community of Australia,” Mills said. “He has had a great career and represented the community he is from very well and here in Cairns as well. “To see him hopefully pull on the green and gold on home soil, that would be an unreal dream for him. “He has had injuries throughout his career and not just the one he has got now. “He was disappointed to miss out on Rio Olympic selection and hopefully he can get the opportunity to represent his country on home soil and make the most of it. “I could not be more proud of the way he has handled his entire career.” The man Jawai calls “Uncle Danny”, Danny Morseu, the first Torres Strait Islander to represent Australia at the Olympics, speaking last month “If a player is happy in their environment, their performance will only increase and he will do well for the organisation,” Morseu said. “Nate is happy with his form at the moment and I feel he will do very well this season. “He should set his goals very high about playing for Australia again.” New Taipans coach Mike Kelly last week “I think he would love to play for Australia again,” Kelly said. “I think he is in the picture and he is playing at that level. It would be a great opportunity for him.” Taipans teammate Lucas Walker on Wednesday “It is great and we are all really proud of him,” Walker said. “He has had his down periods over the last couple of years with injury but it is a credit to him for fighting. “He is happy about being down there and hopefully he can come back with a bit of confidence.”
