RESIDENTS from Aeroglen to Bayview Heights who have experience­d flooding or drainage issues have been invited to contribute to a study to help combat flooding in urban areas. Mayor Bob Manning said the drainage management survey results would feed into a broader study of drainage infrastruc­ture needs. “We want to hear from people who have experience­d any sort of flooding so we can make sure it matches up with our study,” Cr Manning said. Sun safety at DFO

FREE sunscreen stations have been installed at the new DFO Cairns outdoor dining and entertainm­ent precinct. DFO Cairns centre manager Inger Coate said the $10 million DFOOD precinct’s playground was proving popular. “To keep children and their families safe from the sun we have a new sunscreen service at DFO Cairns with Cancer Council endorsed sunscreen stations available around the DFOOD playground area,” Ms Coate said.

Calling up trouble

A 32-YEAR-OLD Cairns man will face court next month after allegedly selling a phone that didn’t belong to him to a Parramatta Park second hand dealer on October 22. The man has been issued with a notice to appear in Cairns Magistrate­s Court on January 14. He is set to face one count of fraud.

It’s dire for doctors

MORE doctors will take their own lives if the Queensland Government forges ahead with planned mental health mandatory reporting laws, the state’s top doctor warns. AMA Queensland president Dr Dilip Duphelia will front the Parliament­ary Health Committee today to demand action to “save lives”. He said at least four Queensland doctors killed themselves in 2017-18.
