Boosting women in Far North business

- ALICIA NALLY alicia.nally@news.com.au

A TEN-HOUR mentoring marathon marked the start of a new era of support last night for Far North business women.

The launch of the new WISEAM Program (Women in Start-ups, Entrepreneurship and Management) was held at Complete Business Solutions’ McLeod St offices.

Over the next nine months WISEAM will help local business women to drive business outcomes through low-cost workshops, mentoring and networking with specialised coaches, mentors, industry partners and government.

“This is a great opportunity to learn from some of the leading business women in FNQ and I encourage any woman involved in business to get involved,” said founder of WISEAM and Complete Business Solutions Petina Tieman.

“WISEAM is not a business networking group, it’s a community of women who want to stand strong, be proud and genuinely be proactive about driving outcomes for themselves personally and professionally.

“WISEAM is a great way for women to access low-cost workshops and mentoring to improve their business in the areas of business advice, commercial law and intellectual property, finances, sales, business development, marketing, public relations, web development and recruitment.”

Program mentors include Cairns Post sales manager Patricia O’Neill, Studio A Health and Fitness’s Angela Armstrong, Century Cranes/Century Training’s Bianca Wilson, Entrepreneurs Accountant Charisse Russell, Danae Jones Consulting’s Danae Jones, MacDonnells Law’s Donna Patane, Elite Executive Pty Ltd’s Eva Grabner, Banora International Group’s Janine Bowmaker, enViZion Group Inc’s Julie-Ann Lambourne, Precedence’s Nicky Jurd and Signature Staff’s Vlasta Eriksson.

The program is part of the State Government’s Advancing Women in Business initiative.
