IT’S been a tough preseason for Northern Pride recruits Brayden and Cameron Torpy, but not in the usual way.

The brothers are itching to get on the paddock and train as part of the main squad, but have been forced to watch on as they recover from lingering injuries they picked up this season.

Brayden has been on modified training since joining the Pride, after undergoing postseason surgery on his shoulder.

He said despite missing out on the team’s group sessions he was pleased with the recovery so far.

“It’s definitely schedule,” he said.

“It’s been pretty tough watching the main group slog it out, and the bike’s getting pretty repetitive, but I’ll be getting into a bit of running this week. ahead of

“Even though it’ll be in the heat, I’m really looking forward to just getting back with the main group and being around the boys.

“I feel like I need to catch up in that regard.”

Younger brother Cameron has been on modified running for the past few weeks, also in separate sessions from the main group.

“It’s still been pretty tough on the alignments due to the humidity and the heat, but hopefully I’m back with the main squad in the next week or two,” he said.

“Everything’s on track, so feeling positive at the moment.”

Coach Ty Williams said the brothers’ penchant to always push one another was a huge asset. “They don’t say too much to each other on the track but you can see that sibling rivalry is there and that lifts the standard of training,” Williams said.
