INNISFAIL

Thursday was our best day for some weeks with 28 players on the green. The winners were S Dunne, R Maguire, D Cook and G McDonald. Sunday was our annual Christmas breakup which took the form of social bowls in the morning followed by a barbecue lunch. Trophies and badges for club champions were then presented. The drawing of the Christmas Goose Club was the final event for the day. The day was well attended and an enjoyable time was had by all. Trophy winners were: A grade singles L Fedalto. Runner-up A Strano. B grade singles J Walker. Runner-up S Micale. C grade singles S England. Runner-up C Smith. Pairs: N Morris and I Humphries. Runners-up J Morrison and J Fossey. WEST CAIRNS LADIES

Wednesday 12th was our Presidents, Patron and Presenatio­n Day and last bowling day for 2018. Congratula­tions to all the winners for the year. Special thanks to our ladies president Rosemary and her helpers for the hard work they put in for 2018. Also thank you to Helen and bar staff for all the hard work that you all done over the year. Please remember that your membership for 2019 is due by the 31/12/2018. See you all again on the 9th January 2019. Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year.

WEST CAIRNS MEN

Nomination­s for the club’s fours and pairs close 30th December. Competitio­n in these sectors will commence on 12th and 19th January. Men’s bowls days will continue as normal except of course on Xmas day. NewsXpress Edge Hill Tuesday was won by G. Davies, D. Lawton, D. Jacoora. 2nd, Bruce McGilvray Trev Johnston, John Bent. Fullarton Manufactur­ing Thirsty Thursday standouts among the growing number of new bowlers were Annie Underwood, Ted Helmuth and Bill Huddy. Kehoe’s Trophies Friday evening Scroungers once again went to the consistent Pauline Bent. Des Aumuller finished second. Sunday morning’s ham day was popular again with close to sixty participan­ts. Substitute Steve Jennison was in brilliant touch guiding his team of Sharky Skardon, Bill Gill and Johnno Johnson to victory. Runners up were Norm Kehrer, Maurie Hetherton and Barry Myles. The lucky money back card went to Tony Perkins fours team. Ric Radigna picked up next week’s free game again. The club’s opening hours next week will be on display in the club. The men’s club wishes all bowlers and social members a most enjoyable festive season and hope to see you at the club.

EDGE HILL MEMORIAL

Ladies Mixed Social bowls. Bowls will resume on Thursday 31st January 2019: Ladies Christmas Lunch Thursday 13th December was enjoyed by all who attended and $1000 was raised for State Emergency Services. All Social bowls will continue if numbers indicate enough interest to play. Club Championsh­ip Fours has commenced and final of Mixed Pairs was won by Kaylyn Smith and Brenton Sloper defeating J Bartholome­usz J Straatsma 21-17 in a thrilling final. Edge Hill will be opening a bowls shop in the new year and will provide Bowls, Bags and Shoes. Come and check us out. Game days and times: Tuesday social bowls will be mixed pairs if possible. Tuesday and Wednesday Night play from 7.00pm. Social Bowlers please get your names in before 11:30am on other playing days. All bowlers are Welcome.

MOSSMAN

We had our last game for the year on Thursday with the Club putting on a Ham Day. Winners were Trish Arnold, Janice Brlyack 2 wins plus 35. Runners Up Anita McCoist, Denise Highland 2 wins plus 11. The ladies held their Christmas Party at the club on Friday. A great time was had by all with every one enjoying a great Christmas Lunch. Ladies Bowls will start again on meeting day 10th January 2019. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all. Wednesday Mixed social bowls saw a good field. Very unusual same winning margin as Kiwi, same amount of winning ends but with a percentage of 2.1 versus 2.2 John, Dick & Gary took the pig home. Wednesday 12th to 16th of December Social bowls. Owen? Yes Owen played bowls with us, all planning of events fell in the water but good water it was! Only our x-mas goose party with the big raffle could go ahead on Friday night. Sunday 16th no play at Silkwood most of our bowlers had other commitment­s. Next Wednesday the 19th is the last bowling day before Xmas. We will open on the 6th of January.
