A NEW British invasion of incredible TV drama is set to light up Foxtel screens starting this summer.

Beginning in January and February, BBC First will unveil a huge summer line-up to suit every taste, delivered with the flair that only British drama can provide, and Cairns Post readers can get in on the drama, intrigue and suspense with a special subscription offer featuring all of Foxtel’s sport, movies, drama and entertainment HD packs for only $68 a month (details below).

The BBC’s special style for crime drama will be on full display when Foxtel screens returning seasons of the world’s favourites.

From the gentle escapism of Death in Paradise to the nervetingling return of Luther and the angst-filled mystery series Tin Star, Foxtel has the best British drama on tap.

Ardal O’Hanlon returns as DI Jack Moone in a new season of Death in Paradise, which sees the Saint Marie police joined by new recruit, Officer Ruby Patterson (Shyko Amos).

Idris Elba reprises his most iconic role as Luther in what promises to be the most thrilling series yet.

Luther is joined by new recruit D.S. Catherine Halliday (Wunmi Mosaku) to unravel a complex tangle of leads and misdirection that seems designed to protect an untouchable corruption.

Tin Star follows Jim Worth (Tim Roth), an alcoholic former London detective who moved to the Canadian Rockies to escape his troubled past.

At the end of the first season Worth and his family were left destroyed by the chaos that followed him and his alter ego Jack Devlin from the UK. The second season picks up where that left off as the shell-shocked family struggles to come to terms with their ordeal.

For fans of period drama, BBC First will bring new seasons of Call The Midwife, which returns with the eagerly anticipated birth of the Queen’s fourth child, and the arrival of two new sisters who have been sent to live and work at Nonnatus House; and Victoria, promising new faces, more drama and more intrigue as it charts the turbulent and uncertain period for both Europe and the Monarchy during a time of revolutions and palace politics.
