On other matters

Yet another overdose at another music festival and more calls for pill testing? They have to be joking. Aren’t these illegal drugs? How about searching everyone going into these drug fests and arresting anyone carrying drugs. They are breaking the law after all. Andy, Herberton Re: Dutton breaks silence and Morrison government did not want to comment. Is the reason they didn’t want to comment because we believe Dutton is spot on? Jo, Woree Terry (CP, 31/12). That governments “create jobs” through spending is erroneous Keynesian thinking. They have no money. They take ours by force of law. They get poor value for it. More jobs would exist if we’d spent it ourselves. Government spending is actually votebuying and depresses overall growth. Miss T, Tolga Do those people who hold up Australia’s welfare safety net as positive evidence favouring socialism (CP, 29/12) understand they can’t have that plus open borders? Again we see socialists can’t do maths. Woz, Parramatta Park Well done Trump. If the Obamas can have a wall around their Washington DC home why are the loony lefties upset about a wall on US Mexico border? No answer. Shane, Kanimbla Notice the BOM recently got almost all the heatwave predictions wrong? And that they didn’t predict record-breaking rain (CP, 31/12)? And they can only guess at cyclone movements a few days out? Why do they think they can predict the climate in 100 year’s time? Pterodactyl Trev, Cairns Two sick Guatemalan kids, intercepted attempting to enter the US illegally, have died despite the best efforts of US hospitals (CP, 27/12 and (CP, 31/12). The hysterical left are blaming the Trump administration but not the kids’ parents or their basket case country. Lefty logic defies rationality and objectivity. Rodger R, Redlynch
