WHILE I agree to some extent with the comments made on this subject, let’s not forget that there was a huge deluge of rain during the Wicked performanc­e run.

My party may have been among the thong-and-short set. When we stepped out of the car we were ankle deep in water and had to walk some distance to the theatre.

I was not going to miss attending the performanc­e and chose what I felt was suitable attire given the weather conditions.

Wet shoes, socks and trousers are un- comfortabl­e. I believe that shorts, shirt and thongs cannot only look attractive but are sensible attire for the tropics.

On the gender issue, what is the difference between shorts/shirt/thongs and skirt/blouse/sandals? Let’s be pleased that patrons are supporting our local theatre.

Togas and sandals were once considered totally appropriat­e attire for theatre patrons. Let’s see commonsens­e and individual­ity thrive. After all, it is theatre.
