On speed cameras

-

Further to LMB, Kuranda on speed cameras. Three unmarked speed cameras between Redlynch and the city, via Reservoir/Anderson/Martyn streets. These are not fatality hot spots. But certainly do maximise exposure to traffic and increase potential revenue. I would hope that the revenue isn‘t just funding more speed camera vehicles. MP, Redlynch Re: Speed fines. It could have been $35,000 in fines if they would only include Redlynch Intake Rd? Please. Sunburnt kid, Redlynch If observing a speed camera makes people slow down and stops crashes, does this mean drivers are going off road and driving on the verge to spy them hiding in trees and bushes? Not revenue raising at all. I’ll believe that when the Chinese moon lander confirms that the dark side of the moon really is made of cheese. ML, Cairns North should also consider banning breakfast cereals aimed at kids. For example Fruit Loops contains 85g per 100g, and I’ve seen so-called healthy cereals that are really expensive with over 70g per 100g. Hidden sugar is everywhere Steven Miles. Beth, Kanimbla So seven Far Northern schools rank in the top 100 schools. So, I’m just wondering when we’ll realise our schools are just fact giving and assessments centres of retained facts and actually only help 25 per cent of pupils. We’ve a very long way to achieve Finland’s excellence, focus on character, be able to cook and prepare meals, determine values of the unique person, able to bank and other real world living. Richard, Palm Cove Sean McGinn, (CP, 18/02). Gillard couldn’t run a chook raffle without buggering it up Sean. Still a toss up between her and Rudd as to who is the worst prime minister Australia has ever had. Bill, Mooroobool Looks like “Medevac Bill” has played one too many political games. Now we will really see if Labor voters want better education, health care and pensions or whether they want boats. Joanne, Mt Sheridan Why are there so many miserable, horrible and whingeing people in Cairns? This place is paradise. Stop your moaning and enjoy what you have here. This life is for enjoying and you only get one go at it. Alice, Palm Cove Beth, (CP, 18/02). Not going to happen. I have spoken to airport management three times over the past five years about the lack of cover in the pick-up area and the covered walkways at the domestic terminal. Yes, we will look at that in our next refurbishment. I have taken photos of the rain soaked so-called covered areas for them. Not interested. They are not interested once you leave the terminal. Glenn, Whitfield
