Clocking up long service

FIVE Cairns truck stalwarts have been recognised for their more than 30 years of service to the industry.

The Isuzu Truck Dealer Associatio­n and Isuzu Australia Limited made a point of singling out Ireland Isuzu personnel David Ireland, who has clocked up 44 years selling the Japanese truck brand, Craig Stone, 33 years service, Rick Bursztynow­icz, also in the business for 33 years, Jim Dorney, 32 years and Richard Ireland, 37 years.

“My thanks are also wholeheart­edly extend to everyone here involved in the Isuzu franchise, at all levels, for their continued support of this great franchise,” said Richard Ireland.

Isuzu Australia Limited director and chief executive Phil Taylor said in 2018 the company delivered 10,027 new trucks, capturing 24.2 per cent of the total market.

At the end of 2018, Isuzu had sold more trucks than any other brand.

“That total also represents a solid 12.7 per cent lift over the brand’s 2017 result,” Mr Taylor said.

“We’re extremely gratified with our achievemen­t of 30 consecutiv­e years of truck market leadership and I’m particular­ly proud of all the people across both Isuzu and our dealer network par excellence that have helped make this a reality over the past three decades.

“We also acknowledg­e the hard work of everyone in the industry on a record-breaking total market result.”
