Retailer spot left open
Servo developer hopes for proven tenant
BCF, Autobarn and Repco are being touted as a potential anchor tenant for a new service station and retail complex at Edmonton.
The former B & D Landscape and Garden Supplies centre at the corner of Thomson Rd and the Bruce Highway has been flagged for a major redevelopment including a new petrol station and a 720 sqm retail centre ripe for new business opportunities.
An exhaustive application to the Cairns Regional Council lists the retail centre’s potential tenants as a small cafe, mechanical workshop, offices, bottle shop, convenience store and a “showroom” for a retailer such as Repco, Autobarn or BCF.
“Future tenants are at this stage not known and this is the reason why several land uses have been applied for,” the document states.
“A ‘shopping centre’ has also been applied for to allow for the future flexibility in case more than one ‘shop’ use is required by way of. for example, several smaller tenants occupying the ‘retail’ component of the proposed development.”
The service station would take up about 250 sqm of land with eight car refuelling positions. Room has also been set aside for a 640 sqm car wash.
It will feature two manual wash bays, one “super wash bay” suitable for caravans and boats, two automatic wash bays, four vacuum bays and a final two spots for pet owners to scrub down their dogs.
“The service station and car wash components of the proposed development will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week and require a maximum of two staff per use at any one states.
“The retail component will likely operate between a maximum of 6am and 10pm seven days a week.
“These hours may vary depending on the eventual tenants.
“Staff numbers for the retail component will not be known until future tenants have been confirmed.” time,” the report
