Immense rewards if bargain picks can click

KEEP a close eye on Mudgee this weekend to see the first centre-wing of my SuperCoach team in action.

Zac Lomax has been named in St George-Illawarra’s squad for the annual Charity Shield clash against South Sydney Rabbitohs.

A relatively cheap outside back at $196,900, Lomax is a man who will help save your dollars for splurging on more expensive, permanent players while hopefully increasing in value as he gets more game time.

His 2018 campaign was cruelled by injury, but just one month ago he was the most popular player in the game.

Not bad for someone NSW coach Fittler calls “The Gifted One”, and another man who appears in the NRL SuperCoach Cheapie Bible, which you can find at cairnspost.com.au.

Lomax is found in the bargain bin alongside other SuperCoach squad members and first-round hopefuls Adam Keighran and Dylan Brown, who were revealed yesterday as my halves pairing.

His returns last season weren’t great – an average of 21.5 across only two games – but if he maintains the inside running for a starting gig you can expect those points, and his value, to go up.

Lomax certainly has the resume to back up Fittler’s label.

He was named in both the Australian Schoolboys and NSW under-18s teams in 2016 and 2017, and in the latter he was named NSW Rugby League’s under-18s Player of the Year. A product of Temora, Lomax debuted last year but played only two games.
