On climate change

-

Sled dog racing in Alaska (CP, 4/3), ay? Didn’t Al Gore say in 2005 that the Arctic would melt by 2015? Erin, Atherton First, PM says emissions are falling and we will meet the Paris target “in a canter”. Now, Energy Minister Taylor says emissions dropped 1 per cent. I say total BS. Their own Energy Department figures show emissions rose every year since the carbon tax was repealed. Last year saw an increase of 0.9 per cent, not a decrease of 1 per cent as claimed. If the LNP had a decent energy policy, energy prices and emissions would actually decrease. They listen to coal mines not voters. Trevor, Park Ridge 5pm last Friday, electricity (per megawatt-hour) was $13 in hydropowered Tasmania, $84 and $98 in coal-powered NSW and Queensland and over $13,000 in renewables leaders Vic and SA. They can ignore reality, but they can’t ignore the consequences of ignoring reality. Mic, Cairns Peter Campion, Toga. (CP, 4/3). What planet are you on. I would say thanks to the Cairns Post and other local media for their input into helping save our Reef and tourism industry. Between climate change (global warming) causing bleaching of the Reef and pollution from the land and sea we need all the media power we can get. Local, Cairns. phile, simple as that. Those who defend him and say wait until his appeal is over would never suggest such a thing for a convicted drug dealer. The reason it took 50 years to catch him is because of the unwarranted status religion has in western society. NJ Cairns Pell-ophobes please note. Pell was found guilty ‘beyond reasonable doubt’ on the uncorroborated evidence of one witness, without forensic evidence, a pattern of behaviour or a confession. Until the appeal, your outrage should be aimed at our damaged jury processes in the social media doxxing age. Miss T, Tolga
