Late-night takeaway returns

-

A PAIR of fresh-faced entrepreneurs have celebrated the grand opening of a new Cairns late-night takeaway joint.

Chris Devlin and Justin Jones reopened Elements Cairns last Friday night after being forced to close for a few days while working out the final glitches in the paperwork.

The Lake Street restaurant had a soft opening in January, building up a regular customer base of workers on lunch breaks in the day and latenight partygoers and taxi drivers on the weekend.

The two originally met playing online video game Fortnite, hitting it off after meeting in person when Mr Jones moved to Australia from the US to get married.

With the food licence now in order and displayed proudly above the counter, the pair can focus on what’s important: the burgers.

Mr Devlin has added a new Tex-Mex beef burger to the menu to celebrate the opening, and it has already proved a hit, as well as chicken caesar and classic beef burgers.

Mr Devlin and Mr Jones had originally gone into business with a third person who decided not to continue with the venture, leading to the issue with the food licence.

“Once the council came in we were able to get the application sorted,” he said.

“We’re taking it bigger and better, one day at a time.”

Elements Cairns is open 10am-3pm Monday-Friday and 10pm-3am Friday-Saturday at 87 Lake St, next to PJ O’Briens.
